- Due to Earth's gravity, mountains cannot be higher than 49,000 feet? didyouknow.org
- While Mount Everest (29,029 ft.) is the tallest mountain above sea level, Mauna Kea (only 4,205 ft. above sea level, but about 33,000 ft. tall total) in Hawaii is the tallest mountain from the base up? http://www.woodlands-junior.kent.sch.uk/Homework/mountains.htm
- While Mount Everest is taller, K2, in opinion, is harder to reach than Everest? Peak by Roland Smith
- The Himalayas consist of the tallest mountains on Earth and are also one of the youngest?
- The oldest mountain ranges on Earth are the Urals in Russia and the Applacians in America?

Did you know that...
Sequel or Movie?
Do you think there is any possibility of a sequel or a movie? In my opinion, there is a greater chance of a sequel than a movie. A sequel to Peak would be easier to write than making a movie. Someone Peak's age or maybe a little older would have to climb Mount Everest AND be a pretty good actor. There are not many people who can do this. The actor will probably die. They could, of course, transport the actor up there every scene, then bring him back down. Also, the camera crew must be able to withstand the weather, too.
There is also only a very slight chance of a sequel. Peak said he would no be going back to Everest, so if there is a sequel, Peak would be climbing a different mountain. It wouldn't be as interesting as Everest.
Biography of Roland Smith
Roland Smith was born in Portland, Oregon. He was given a typewriter for his 5th birthday. He enjoyed listening to the typewriter's noise.
After going to school, he worked at a zoo. After doing a good job of recapturing animals that had escaped from the zoo, he was offered a job at larger zoo. After working there for 20 years, he quit his job and started writing full time. Go to his website here.

If you were Peak, and Josh had just told you you were going to Mount Everest, how would you react? How would you feel if you were pretty much breaking the law if you went up Mt. Everest?
i no its not really breaking the law, but Josh says, "...The Chinese aren't so picky. They don't care how old you are as long as you pay the fee." He also mentions that it's illegal in Nepal.

What if situations
If Josh hadn't gone to New York for Peak's trial, what do you think would have happened?
What do you think would of happened if Sun-Jo was caught by Captain Shek?
There are so many different 'what if?' situations. This book could have turned out a lot different if certain things didn't happen.

Discussion Question
Why do you think that Peak dislikes Rolf? Do you think that he begins to like Rolf by the end?
My answer: I think that Peak dislikes Rolf because Rolf is not Peaks real father. After he realizes his real father is selfish and only cares about getting to the top of Everest, he begins to realize that he likes Rolf more than Josh.

Why do you think Peak let Sun-Jo go to the summit of Everest?
I think that Peak let Sun-Jo go to the summit because he wanted to give Sun-Jo a chance to do well in life, instead of living in poverty and uneducated.
Summary
